Malvern St James

£49.00£99.00

Up to 1919, this school was the Imperial Hotel situated opposite Great Malvern station. The station’s still there which makes it very handy for the boarders – one of whom was Dame Barbara Cartland – dragging heavy trunks to school each term.

Malvern is a lovely old town and I spent a super weekend there visiting the school and taking photographs.

I actually painted this school portrait twice because a tree just seemed to arrive in the middle of my first painting so I moved it to one side in my second. I became so well acquainted with the school’s many windows that I could paint them in my sleep!
