1907 Peking to Paris Race – Prince Borghese in his 7 Litre Italia
£49.00 – £99.00
The Peking to Paris race was held for the first time in 1907.
This painting depicts Prince Borghese with the Llama of Tibet over a route of 12,000 miles never before traversed by car. Prince Borghese was an Italian nobleman, a wealthy individual who financed the journey.
No British entries were received for such a foolhardy route across the roof of the world.
Other competitors fell by the wayside. One is reputed to be buried in the sands of the Gobi Desert.
