Beechen Cliff School, Bath

£49.00£99.00

When you see Beechen Cliff School for the first time on the hillside in the distance, it is so very impressive. It is a bow shaped, sandstone building so typical of those found in Bath. The land around the school falls away giving its visitors fabulous views for miles beyond.

The reputation for education here is high and, including its time as the City of Bath Boy’s Grammar School, it counts Roger Bannister – the first man to run a mile in less than four minutes, Andrew Lincoln – the actor – and Sir John Sawers – head of MI6, amongst its notable alumni.

The day I came to visit, it was pouring with rain. But I was determined that my painting would have a bright, sunny look to bring out the richness of the school’s stonework so I doggedly ignored the wet and just got on with it!

I hope you like the result.
